Key training

If you are just starting out in youth work or looking for refresher training, Key 1 and Key 2 are for you. Each is free and can be delivered at a time and place that suits you.

Key 1 explores why we work with young people, understanding learning styles, evaluation and good practice including risk assessments and health and safety.

Key 2 looks at the world of a young person, their faith and values, listening skills and pastoral care.

A new training course gets underway in January 2019 for people who work with children and young people in a Christian context. With a mixture of lectures, discussions, assignments and presentations, the course runs over six months and will develop your skills, understanding and confidence, enabling you to break new ground and see your ministry grow.

With accommodation and food, the cost of the course is £350. There is also a non-residential option.

Friday 25 January (7pm for food) - Sunday 27 January (mid-afternoon)
Friday 22 March (7pm for food) - Sunday 24 March (mid-afternoon)
Saturday 8 June (10am – 9pm)

To book, please contact Helen Tyler on 0161 828 1436.

The Church Colleges’ Certificate in Christian Youth Work

This course is run in partnership with the University of Chester and the Dioceses of Chester and Blackburn. The course looks in depth at issues around leadership, worship, spirituality, faith development and building relationships, along with many other areas. There is some coursework involved throughout the year and presentations which are undertaken both individually and in groups. The course is delivered across three residential weekends which create opportunities for sharing good practice and building new friendships.

If you would like further information on this course please contact the Diocesan Youth Officer.
