  • Manchester awarded £5m from Church Commissioners for church growth projects

    The Diocese of Manchester has learnt today that it has been successful in its bid for £5.035 million from the Church Commissioners’ Strategic Development Fund to develop projects that will help grow a younger and more diverse church, particularly in areas of high deprivation.

    The money will be used for three creative new interventions over five years, with the aim of reaching people aged under 40, the generation that is often missing from our churches.

  • Places of Worship Protective Security Funding Scheme Opens for Bids

    The Home Office is providing a total of £3.2 million in grant funding this year to help places of worship who feel they are vulnerable to hate crime to install more secure gates, locks, alarms and CCTV in order to deter and prevent hate crime attacks.

    Places of worship in England and Wales, including churches, gurdwaras, mosques, temples and associated faith community centres, can apply for grants of up to £56,000 per place of worship.
