The training modules that are available online are the Basic Awareness and the Foundation. These are required to be completed for most roles, including anyone in a role which involves work with children, young people, or vulnerable adults; Churchwardens and PCC Members. Therefore if you have not yet done so, we would encourage you to complete these courses as soon as possible. You can access the training here.
The additional pathways that are also available online are: Raising Awareness of Domestic Abuse and Safer Recruitment and People Management. These are required to be completed by anyone holding the Bishop’s licence, commission, authorisation, permission (clergy, PtO, Readers, LLMs), PSOs and PCC members. Recommended attendees are people holding any other pastoral role within the Church.
If you experience any problems with the registration process, please contact elearning@safeguardingtraining.cofeportal.org, as the training website is not managed by the Diocese of Manchester.
The Safeguarding Leadership Training module is for those who play a lead role in shaping the culture of the Church body. This will always include clergy, Readers and Parish Safeguarding Officers. This module is also available via Zoom. Those with PTO who do not play a lead role in shaping the culture of the church body, such as clergy with PTO and Readers Emeritus, must participate in the bespoke PTO Safeguarding Learning Pathway.
All of these modules will also be available via Zoom and face-to-face in 2024, as an optional alternative to the online courses. A schedule for these will be available in the new year.
