This weekend, services of joyful celebration have been taking place at Manchester Cathedral. On Sunday morning, fourteen deacons were ordained by the Bishop of Manchester, the Rt Revd Prof David Walker.
Bishop Mark Davies presided at the Eucharistic service and Canon Florence Winfield, the Third Church Estates Commissioner preached the sermon. The new deacons then made declarations, before the congregation promised to support them in their ministry. After prayers and the laying on of hands, the deacons were presented with a Bible, before being welcomed by the congregation.
The cathedral was full of supporters, family and friends all sharing in this joyous, spirit-filled occasion.
All of the photos taken during the event can be found on our Flickr page and if you were unable to make the service, the live-streamed video is still available on Manchester Cathedral's Facebook page.
