Service to Celebrate Reader Ministry Held at Manchester Cathedral

On Sunday afternoon, we gathered at Manchester Cathedral to celebrate the vital ministry of Readers across our diocese. In a joyful service led by Bishop Matthew Porter, six new Readers were admitted, and five were honoured with the title of Reader Emeritus.

New Chapter Begins at William Temple Church, Wythenshawe

On Tuesday evening, the Revd Andy Bird was officially licensed as Assistant Curate at William Temple Church in Wythenshawe. Andy will lead a team sent from St Werburgh’s and will work alongside the Wythenshawe Team with a shared goal: to revitalise William Temple Church and contribute to a thriving mission and ministry in the area.

Diocesan Synod Meets to Discuss Strategy, Safeguarding, Vocations and Finances

New Area Deans for Rochdale and Salford & Leigh

We are pleased to announce two appointments to the role of Area Dean within our diocese. The Revd Anne Gilbert, currently serving as Vicar of Rochdale and Acting Area Dean, has been formally appointed as Area Dean of Rochdale, and The Venerable Richard Worsfold, currently Archdeacon of Leicester, has been appointed as full-time Area Dean of Salford and Leigh.

The Revd Canon Dr Nicholas Bundock elected as Bishop of Glasgow and Galloway

Bishop David Speaks on The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill

Bishop David spoke in the House of Lords yesterday in the debate on The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill also known as 'Martyn’s Law' in tribute to Martyn Hett who was killed alongside 21 others in the 2017 Manchester Arena attack. He commended the work of those who have drafted the Bill and expressed his gratitude for the amendments that help to balance the needs of smaller venues.
