Maundy Money received by Margaret of St. Margaret's Church, Whalley Range!

First published on: 13th April 2023

We were so pleased to see Margaret recognised during the Maundy Thursday service at York Minster. She was one of 148 people to receive Maundy money from King Charles III.

In this traditional service, the Monarch hands out purses of specially minted coins to people who have been chosen for outstanding Christian service and for making a difference to the lives of people in their local communities. The number of men and women always matches the Monarch’s age, this year 74 men and 74 women received coins from The King.

Each person receives two purses – one made of white leather holding coins to the value in pence of the Monarch’s age and the other made of red leather, containing a special £5 and a special 50p.

Margaret's parish were proud to share in the celebrations as she was recognised for a lifetime of service to St. Margaret's Church, Whalley Range, their school and the local community.
