After nine years in the role of Local Ministry Officer, Jamie Mackenzie has accepted an exciting new post as Lead Anglican Chaplain at Manchester University, Manchester Metropolitan and The Royal Northern College of Music. During his time in role, Jamie has facilitated the authorisation of over 350 Authorised Lay Ministers, supported 168 people through the Foundations for Ministry Course and, in more recent years, launched the General Lay Training Pathway, which has had over 200 participants. The new Lead Anglican Chaplain role will provide further opportunities for Jamie to develop faith amongst a younger generation and use his gifts of training, encouraging and supporting in this way.
“It has been an absolute privilege to serve as the diocesan Local Ministry Officer over the last 9 years”, says Jamie. “I have met the most amazing people and getting to journey alongside participants during their training has been the hugest honour. I'm definitely sad to be leaving such great friends and colleagues but also very excited to continue working for the diocese in my new role.”
Kim Morgan-Jones, Head of Lay Development, says, “We are incredibly grateful for all that Jamie has done in leading training for laity across the diocese and, as a result, the positive impact this has had across the churches. Many people have grown in their faith, leadership skills and confidence as a result of Jamie’s care and dedication in this role. We have been blessed by all he has done and wish him well in his new role.”
Jamie will finish his current role at the end of July and move to his new role in August. Please pray for him as he begins this new chapter.
