St Peter’s Church in Westleigh has recently seen fundraising success by placing QR codes around the church. In today’s increasingly cashless society, QR codes offer a simple and effective way to collect donations, especially during major services and life events. They’re particularly useful for parishes that don’t yet have a physical contactless giving device, and can even complement those that do.
These printed codes can be placed on the backs of pews, pew sheets, or displayed in other visible areas. Worshippers and visitors can scan them with their smartphones to be taken directly to an online donation page.
Sue Brown, Deanery Transformation Support Officer for Salford & Leigh, commented:
“St Peter, Westleigh, is a large, Grade II* listed historic ‘Austin & Paley’ gem, dating from 1881 and much valued as a spiritual hub for the local community. Being able to raise more money at their many life events and civic services will help the faithful congregation here to preserve the fabric of the building for many years to come, as well as increasing their resource to reach out to the local community.”
