St. Peter’s Belmont is celebrating 175 years of serving God and the community

St. Peter’s Church in Bolton Deanery is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year – a proud milestone for a church that has long been at the heart of the Belmont community.

Though the village has changed over the years, especially with more residents working outside Belmont and local amenities like the post office and a pub closing, St. Peter’s continues to serve. In response, the church now hosts a Friday outreach post office and café, along with a monthly lunch club – all part of their Mission Action Plan.

To mark this special year, a series of celebrations are taking place and all are welcome to attend as the church looks ahead to the next 175 years!

Programme of events:

  • Sunday April 6th 2025: Anniversary service of dedication and thanksgiving. Bishop Matthew Porter will be in attendance
  • Saturday June 14th 2025: Flower display / Organ recital / Afternoon tea
  • Sunday 29th June (St. Peter’s day) Service on The Green: Procession from top of High street to The Green with a brass band.
  • August 2025 (date TBC): Belmont history weekend run by the History Society
