Manchester Diocesan Synod passed a Motion on Racism, affirming “that every parish and Diocese in England is an appropriate place for global majority candidates to exercise their ministry and leadership.â€
The Church can and must be a powerful champion of that mental resilience, through the long and hard months that lie ahead.
Our proposals for Mission Communities will enable us to work together in growing, nurturing and serving our communities across the Diocese of Manchester.
Congratulations to our 13 new deacons who were ordained in Manchester, Bolton and Oldham on 23 September.
Many churches have seen significant growth during this period of doing church solely online, with more people engaging online each week than attend on an average Sunday. We now have a huge responsibility to ensure that both our existing and newly arrived worshipers are nurtured and served.
Scott Richardson's life was at a crossroads four years ago when he walked into a church to ask to be baptised so he could start life anew. That moment was the beginning of a journey that sees him ordained deacon at Oldham Parish Church next week.
The Bishop of Manchester is to take his seat as a member of the House of Lords in Parliament on Monday 7 September. As one of the 26 Lords Spiritual, he will represent the city and diocese of Manchester. He will have a particular brief among the bishops to speak on issues of housing and international trade.
Please pray for all those to be ordained this year and especially for these candidates who will serve in our diocese. Pray for them in these final weeks of preparation and for a rich outpouring of Gods grace for them and for the whole Church.Please p
