Joshua Gaskell, a trombone enthusiast from Glyndyfrdwy, Denbighshire, in North Wales, has enjoyed a colourful and diverse employment history before entering ministry!
Ahead of their ordinations, the future ordinands were invited to the Cathedral for their ordination rehearsals, as well as a meet-and-greet lunch with the newly consecrated Bishop of Bolton, The Rt Revd Dr Matthew Porter, and other senior clergy.

On Sunday 9th July, the Reader licensing service takes place at Manchester Cathedral.
On Sunday 25th June, Bishop Matthew was welcomed to the diocese during a special Evensong service at Manchester Cathedral.
Over the last two weeks, 3,500 children from Church of England schools across Manchester Diocese have attended services in Manchester Cathedral for their year 6 leavers assemblies.
Earlier today, the Rt Revd Dr Matthew Porter was consecrated as the Bishop of Bolton at York Minster alongside the Rt Revd Smitha Prasadam, Bishop of Huddersfield and the Rt Revd Anna Eltringham, Bishop of Ripon.
Nic Harris has been appointed as Pioneer Evangelist in Rochdale Centre of Mission, a partnership between Manchester Diocese Renewing Rochdale initiative and Church Army.
Bishop Charles has had a busy weekend of activities including Diocesan Synod, afternoon tea at St James and St Edmund's, Moss Side and leading the sermon at Manchester Cathedral.
Thirty-five young people attended from the four youth groups in the Mission Community (Horwich and Rivington, Westhoughton, Deane and Lostock and Over Hulton).
