The Church of the Ascension in Lower Broughton has been spectacularly rebuilt following a devastating fire in 2017 that destroyed the roof and much of the interior.
With the level of heating costs expected this winter, some churches may consider moving worship to buildings which are more readily and efficiently heated. Any decision to move worship will need to be carefully considered, and national statutory guidance will be issued soon, which must be read in conjunction with the information below.
St Edmunds Whalley Range and St James Moss Side have developed a Tech Team to run their social media channels and deliver livestreams of services. They train and equip their younger members and have also offered training to other churches.
Warm Welcome is working to equip and support thousands of free, warm, and welcoming spaces in communities across the UK to make sure that nobody is left to suffer on their own this winter.
St Anne’s Turton runs Technology Pop-In sessions that offer an opportunity to learn new skills and improve connectivity amongst its community.
Christ Church Healey quickly adapted to livestreaming worship during the pandemic and is keen to assist other churches in using appropriate technology.
St Andrew’s Over Hulton received an award for its online youth group that enabled children to stay connected during the pandemic lockdowns.
We've been celebrating our Church for a Different World digital awards in recognition of churches that are reaching out to their communities in new and innovative ways.
Environmental issues were to the fore at Diocesan Synod. Bishop Mark Ashcroft was also thanked for his dedicated service to the diocese prior to his retirement in February.
